The support group for the aspiration of former Oyo State Governor and the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the state, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, has said the failure of the incumbent government under the leadership of Abiola Ajimobi would enhance the victory of Alao-Akala in the election. The group, Team Akala, in a statement said people of Oyo State had resolved to return Alao-Akala as Governor due to Ajimobi’s failure to fulfill his campaign promises and inability to run a government with human face.

According to the group, “in many places in Oyo State, the only things that make them know a government exists in the state is the propaganda and lies of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government on the radio and television, no visible, either direct or indirect, impact on the people.

“Rather it is infliction of hardship through hard economic policies and capital flight to Lagos.
“People do not have access to good health, as many hospitals have been turned to a mere consulting clinics as they were starved of drugs and other essential materials that could enhance good health care delivery.
“The rot in the health sector has degenerated to a level where people now prefer to patronise private clinics than government hospitals against what it used to be during the days of Alao-Akala as Governor,” the statement added.
The team lamented further that “it is disappointing to note that Sen. Ajimobi and his team of technocrats in government cannot make any visible impact in education as the state which has been rated among the best three in the country is now in almost the last position.
“This has been due to the insensitivity and selfishness of the government to make the indigent students and pupils of our schools enjoy what they enjoyed in the days of Alao-Akala.
“In spite of the increase in the internally generated revenue, what Sen. Ajimobi and his co-traveler termed as achievements did not in any way commensurate with the income he had received since he came on board in 2011 which implies that they are bad managers who are not in anyway competent to rule the state,” it said further.
The team, however, assured the people of Oyo state that Alao-Akala would restore the years of loss and difficulties Ajimobi had brought to them through a rapid repositioning and reformation programme of the LP.
“Labour Party is for the people of Oyo State and Alao-Akala and his running mate are the best combination that will take the state to a greater level because they are both grassroots politicians who knows where the shoe pinches our people”, the statement added.
