47 die in Osun road accidents

Osogbo - The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Osun said on Tuesday in Osogbo that 47 deaths from road traffic crashes were recorded in the state between January and March. The State Sector Commander, Muhammed Husaini, disclosed this in an interview. According to Husaini, 71 crashes, involving more than 333 persons, occurred in the state within the period. He attributed the crashes to speeding, poor condition of roads and, sometimes, failure by motorists to comply with road traffic rules and regulations. He appealed to motorists to observe road safety rules, saying the commission was determined to secure lives on the roads. He vowed that anyone caught violating road traffic rules would be apprehended and prosecuted. - NAN
